Philip, who died from a brain tumour last year, at the age of just 46, was profoundly deaf but never let disability stop him.
He was part of several groups in the town and regularly attended Allerdale COSC, where he was also part of the Parkhill Poets.
His brother, Maryport businessman Peter Nixon, has organised an auction of Philip’s collectibles to raise money for Maryport cottage hospital and COSC.
He said: “Maryport hospital gave him care that was second to none when he was ill. This is a chance to pay them back and also to give something to COSC which he loved.”
Items at the auction will include T-shirts, signed football shirts and snooker cues.
Mr Nixon said the items would be sold at a fun evening at the Freemason Hall on High Street, next Saturday, July 16.
Tickets are £15 which includes a meal.
They are available from Nixons of Maryport on Curzon Street.
