A West Cumbrian solicitors aims to fill the sky above Workington with balloons as part of the Paint The Town Red festival.

The festival will take place on Saturday, June 4.

Milburns Solicitors will sell helium balloons for £1 each at the event, which will be collected in a huge net ready for a release.

Each buyer fills in their personal details on a ticket which is placed inside the balloon.

Whoever finds the balloon then fills in a slip and returns it to Milburns, who will then give £50 each to the buyer and returner of the furthest away balloon.

The last time the firm took part in the festival they sold 330 balloons and this time they are targeting 500.

Louise Burnell, business manager for Milburns, said: "It should be a spectacular sight with all those balloons going off.

"We've had them reach as far as Scotland before.

"We do sell balloons at other events but nothing on this sort of scale.

"The people holding the net have really got their work cut out for them keeping it under control but it'll all be worth it.

"Last time people started to wait for the big release so I think it's a fun thing people enjoy watching."

The festival, which was one of the town's most successful events, is making a comeback after four years.

"We just like to get involved in the community at local event like this," Louise added.

"I think it's a good cause and anything that gets the community out with something to celebrate is good."

Paint The Town Red is organised by Workington Town Council, Workington Rotary and local people.
