A group of care workers took part in a sponsored fancy dress bed push in Workington to help its clients have a smashing Christmas.

The workers of Bellcare Domiciliary Care Services pushed the bed from the Moorclose Inn around the estate and then to the firm's offices on Peart Road, Derwent Howe.

They are raising cash to bring together their clients, who they care for in their own home, for a Christmas party.

The fund-raising pays for free transport, food, entertainment, raffle prizes and gifts.

Pam Burnip, of Bellcare, said: "We've done this sponsored bed push and have been baking and selling cakes and hosting raffles to raise money.”

She said the Christmas party will offer an enjoyable opportunity for users, which they may not otherwise get, as some live alone and have no family nearby.

More than £500 has been raised from the bed push and Pam added: "We will continue throughout the rest of the year to ensure that we give the best party our clients deserve.”
