Three West Cumbrian businesswomen with a passion for vintage have teamed up for their first ever home and garden fair.

Blue Bell Vintage will take place on Sunday at Workington’s Helena Thompson Museum.

Vintage home decor business owners and friends Heather Banks, 40, of Brigham, Janet Harker, 45, and Jayne Ackerley, 39, both of Workington, have organised the event.

Janet, who owns Harkers Vintage Furniture, said: “It will be a one stop shop, there will be anything from garden paints to antiques and vintage homeware.”

Jayne, owner of Tobias Interiors, added: “We’ve tried to handpick some businesses that could bring something unique.

"We looked right around the county so we have businesses that wouldn’t have found themselves together at other fairs.”

Heather, who ha set up Tiffen Interiors, said: “We’re trying to offer something a bit different in West Cumbria, so people don’t have to travel away to find what they need.”

They chose the Helena Thompson Museum as a venue and weather permitting, the fair will be held in the garden.

Janet said: “The museum is just ideal and with it being a home and garden fair, having the use of the garden will help us display the items better.

“We’re hoping that people can come and get some ideas and be inspired for their projects.

"Sometimes people have items at home and they’re not quite sure what to do with him. The rule is, never smash and never burn anything.”

Jayne added: “The thing with vintage is also that it’s a one-off opportunity, so if you see anything you like, just buy it.”

They will bring the best of their collections, including a mix of textiles, soft furnishing, vintage fabrics, French finds, French lavender hearts, cabinets, chairs and small bedroom furniture.

Other businesses at the fair include Dachshund Vintage Interiors, Clarabelle Interiors, The Camellia Paint Shed, Phoenix Antiques Barn and Lynn De La Plants.

The event runs from 11am to 3pm and admission is free.
