Two Broughton sports clubs have benefited from county council grants.
Broughton Red Rose Rugby League Club have been able to buy a motorised line marking machine following a £1,000 grant.
The cricket club secured £400 to spend on equipment for the juniors.
The money came from the budget Councillor Alan Clark is given to spend on community projects.
Ray Dobie, who is involved with both clubs, said: "Coun Clark helped with advice on framing the bid and I am delighted to say the bid was successful. We are really grateful for his support.
"The marking machine means that a task that used to take hours can now be done in under a hour, with a far better result."
The cricket club will use the money to buy pads, bats and helmets for the juniors.
Coun Clark said: "We must support local sport clubs.
"Apart from the actual joy of playing a particular sport, they help bring communities together and support a healthier lifestyle, which can only be a good thing."
