A Workington teenager has become the third generation of his family to achieve a walking milestone.

Cameron Watson, 13, of Park Lane, has completed all 214 Wainwrights - the fells listed in Alfred Wainwright's seven-volume Pictoral Guide to the Lakeland Fells.

His father Andrew and grandfather Ronnie have also managed the achievement.

Cameron, a pupil at St Joseph's School, began the challenge when he was just three years old by reaching the top of Latrigg, near Keswick, with Andrew.

It has taken him ten years to climb all 214 fells and he reached the top of Rosset Pike last month to complete the feat.

Cameron said: "I'm really pleased and happy about it as it's a really good achievement.

"When I have children I hope to take them up the fells as well.

"You've got to be strong, positive, brave and confident to do them.

"I'll definitely be going up them again."

Cameron has been to the fells on weekends and during school holidays.

He hopes to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales and mountains in Ireland on the back of his success with the Wainwrights.
