Three causes received £3,500 each at the Workington to Keswick Charity Walk presentation night.

Seaton Scouts, West Coast Down's Syndrome Support Group and Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were each presented with a cheque at the event at Workington Cricket Club.

The walk takes place annually and organisers select charities to receive cash from sponsorship.

As well as the main beneficiaries, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, Maryport Inshore Rescue, Ullock Village Hall, Buttermere old school, Rosthwaite Village Hall and the Rawnsley Centre in Keswick all received £100 each.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team members were unable to attend the presentation after receiving an emergency call.

At the event, awards were also given to veterans Ivan Dootson, Lisa Spratling and Jo Chatterton, senior Andrew Jackson, super veterans Christine Bland and Peter Jackson and juniors Linus Sandelands and Sarah Caton who came first in their respective categories.

A total of 149 people completed the 32-mile walk in March, which takes in Loweswater, Crummock Water, Buttermere, Honister Pass and Borrowdale.

Val Wilson, committee member for the walk, said: "It's marvellous to be able to support the charities. It makes it all worthwhile.

"Thank you to everyone who took part and for their efforts. Hopefully we will see them all again next year."

Next year's walk will see 40th walk.
