Charlotte Stevens is becoming a lightweight and loving it.

The Great Broughton mother of two has lost over six stone in weight, going from over 16 stones to 10 stones.

Charlotte, who was a teaching assistant at St Michael’s Infant School in Workington, had daughter Madi nearly three years ago and her son, Leighton, 15 months ago.

She said: "I put on quite a bit of weight with Madi, tried to lose it afterwards but soon I got pregnant with Leighton and used that as an excuse not to diet.

"When I realised how I had piled on the pounds I felt really unhappy.

"I had joined a slimming club between the children but it didn’t really work for me.

"When I decided I had to do something, I joined Slimming World in Maryport and it has made all the difference.”

She said the club has provided her with a support network and new friends.

She is now only two pounds away from her goal weight of 10 stone.

"The best thing is that I haven’t had to do this on my own.

"The food is suitable for all the family. It fits into our lifestyle and my partner, David Campbell and the children enjoy the same meals as me.

"I can also have my 'sins' which I use on nights out or when I want chocolate or something."

Charlotte, who lost her weight in just under a year, said she feels happier, more confident and more able to keep up with two pre-schoolers now.

Charlotte's Slimming World group meets at the Maryport Rugby Club on Mealpot Road on Thursdays.
