Christine Kerr, 64, of Pottery Lane, has been helping with the Anchors section which is mainly made up of five to eight-year-olds.
She got involved with the group when her son Peter and daughter Amanda were members of the Boys’ Brigade and the village’s former Girls’ Brigade.
Christine has worked with 400 youngsters and four vicars from St Mungo’s Church. Her husband Hamish has also helped at parade nights.
Youngsters said farewell to Christine after the group’s annual awards ceremony.
She said: “There have been Anchor members in recent years whose fathers were members and are now bringing their own children.
“It’s been very rewarding to see these young people mature and grow in confidence.”
Maryport mayor Linda Radcliffe was guest of honour at the awards ceremony. A collection for local charity Team Evie on the night raised £180.
