Music, inflatables and a beer tent are among the attractions at this year's Flimby Children's Carnival.

The annual event is taking place in the village on Saturday.

Layla Smith will be the first carnival queen for 13 years and Kelsie Weir is this year's snow queen.

The procession will head up Ryehill Road, up St Helen's Avenue, down St Nicholas Avenue and down West Lane to the field.

Dance groups, superheroes and rugby players are among those who are in the parade.

Judging will take place at Flimby Primary School from 1pm.

A Clip 'n' Climb wall, rodeo bull, inflatables, fairground, laser maze and the beer tent will all be on the field.

Music is being provided by Pot Luck and Blackpool drag artist Violet Heart will also make an appearance.

A martial arts demonstration and an afternoon tea are also due to be held.

A scarecrow competition has also been held in the run up to the event, and a crown design competition will be judged on Friday.

The carnival is also commemorating The Queen's 90th birthday.

Every household in Flimby is to be given a souvenir mug featuring the Queen on one side and "Flimby Carnival 2016" on the other.

Karen Markham, secretary of the carnival committee, said: "It's hard work so we need the support of the village.

"They've had a rough time and people have been flooded so we want everybody to enjoy themselves."

Roads will be closed between noon and 3.30pm and residents are being asked to move their cars by then.
