A woman motorist seriously injured in a head-on crash with a lorry on the A591 is now in a stable condition in hospital.
Police have confirmed that the 36-year-old woman, who was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after the crash yesterday, is now considered to be out of danger.
She is expected to be in hospital for at least a week.
Following the collision, police closed the A591 at Bothel in both directions between the A595 and B5291 for Bassenthwaite.
It happened on yesterday at around 10.15am near to the Castle Inn Hotel and involved the woman's Honda Jazz.
The woman, from Keswick, had to be cut free by firefighters before being flown by the Great North Air Ambulance to hospital in Newcastle, where she is still being treated.
Police said at the time that her injuries could be life threatening.
The lorry driver, a man from Northumberland, was uninjured.
Police today renewed their appeal for witnesses who may be able to help police piece together what happened to get in touch.
