Talent-spotters have snapped up a number of children from a new dance academy.

Ignite Dance Academy only opened its doors 10 months ago and teachers Zoe O’Townson and Susan Skinner are delighted with its success.

In the last few weeks, seven dancers have been singled out and have secured places at prestigious schools as well as a popular pantomime.

The school was launched by dance teachers Zoe O’Townson, 32, of High Harrington, and Susan Skinner, 34, of Kells, Whitehaven.

“We are really proud of the success these West Cumbrian girls are having, both locally and nationally,” said Zoe.

“I’m so proud of all of the girls; it takes real determination, dedication and ability to achieve the level of recognition that they’ve received.”

Emily Wilson, of Embleton, was spotted while taking part in a national dance convention at Leeds Beckett University.

The 13-year-old was noticed by Chantry School of Contemporary and Balletic Arts where she travels once a month to Grantham, near Nottingham, to be taught by leading professionals.

Two other stars in the making are Eloise Holiday from Dearham and Poppy Rankin of Asby, who both successfully auditioned at the renowned Studio La Pointe in Leeds.
