Nominations are open for anyone wanting to become Cockermouth's new borough or town councillor.
There is a vacancy in the Christchurch ward on each council following the resignation of Margaret Jackson, who stepped down to move closer to her family.
Candidates have until 4pm on Thursday, August 25 to submit nomination papers for either or both of the posts.
The papers are available from Allerdale House in Workington.
If there are two or more candidates, a by-election will be held on September 22.
Anyone wishing to vote would have to ensure they are on the electoral register by September 6.
