A popular fundraising walk will be back this year to help a charity celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Moonlight Memories Walk will be back in October and people are asked to take part in support of Hospice At Home West Cumbria.

The event will bring an 80s theme to Whitehaven for the six-mile walk around the town on October 6.

A spokesman for the charity said: "Walk in memory of a loved one, walk for someone you know who has been helped by Hospice at Home West Cumbria or just walk for fun and fitness. Whatever your motivation, we need your help to raise vital funds to support Hospice At Home West Cumbria's work.

"There will be an opportunity for those walking in memory of a loved one to have a quiet moment and to attach a personal message on a special memory board located on Whitehaven Harbour."

The walk starts and finishes at the town's Tesco supermarket, with a variety of entertainment from 7pm, including a fun warm-up session by the Xtreme Fitness Team to get participants ready for the walk at 10pm.

All entrants will receive a goody bag with a t-shirt, a drink and snack, a rain poncho and a glow necklace.

And at the end of the walk everyone will receive a medal to commemorate the event.

People are encouraged to dress up for the event following the 80s theme and prizes will be handed out to the best costume, best dressed group and best decorated t-shirts.

The event is sponsored by Morgan Sindall, Coombe And Sharpe Landscaping and Whitehaven's Tesco supermarket.

To enter visit www.hospiceathomewestcumbria.org.uk or pick up a leaflet from the charity's shops in Workington, Whitehaven and Cockermouth.

Entry is £15 per person and is open to everyone over 14.
