Families took a stroll along the harbour to enjoy the sixth annual Whitehaven Motor Show.

Organised by cnevents, the event brings together car delaers from across west Cumbria and Carlisle for an outdoor car show designed for the whole family.

Its aim is to offer car selling in an informal atmosphere - minus the 'hard sell' of the showroom - with an opportunity to browse a whole host of brands in one place.

Families took advantage of Saturday's sporadic sunshine to head to Whitehaven harbour, where stockists lined the entire length, while Sunday's downpours meant it was still popular but with fewer crowds.

Street performers were on hand to entertain the children, while parents marvelled at everything from Jaguars and Fords, to BMWs and Hondas.

Steve McCullough, an advertising director with CN Group, said: "We promote it as an all-encompassing motor show for all the family - an opportunity to go for a family day out and a walk, and look at all the cars.

"Saturday was particularly good as it was dry and the sun kept coming out: from about 10am there was a constant flow of people.

"Virtually all the main dealerships have had sales and certainly had good leads if not. All the showrooms have also reported being busier on Sunday as a result of the motor show."

He added: "Sunday was a bit quieter because of the weather, but we're pleased with how it has all gone."
