Fashionistas took to the catwalk to raise money for a west Cumbrian charity.

The charity fashion show, held at Broughton Craggs Hotel, Great Broughton was organised by Marsha Brown, who owns HotMess studio – a make-up and beauty parlour – in Maryport.

A raffle held at the event raised £480 for Hospice at Home.

Miss Brown said: “Hospice at Home was very good with my Grandad when he passed away eight years ago.

“This was my first year in business and I wanted to raise money for a fab local charity.

“Having a make-up studio, I thought the best way to do this was with a fashion show!

“As a new business we didn’t anticipate how well it would go.

“The turnout was amazing – there were around 300 people there.

“We intend to do another one next year on a bigger scale.”

She added that the support they had received from other local businesses had been “brilliant.”

Dirty Doll, a women’s fashion boutique based in Workington, provided the outfits for the show. Bridal Wishes, of Carlisle, supplied the gowns for the wedding catwalk.

The models’ make-up was applied by HotMess Studio and Kayleigh’s Hair Styling of Workington did their hair.

Miss Brown said the models looked “stunning.”

I Do Wedding Hire provided the backdrop for the catwalk show.

Representatives from Clarins and Dior were also on hand to offer skincare demos and makeovers.

The raffle prizes were donated by HotMess Studio, Dirty Doll, Broughton Craggs Hotel, Armathwaite Hall and Workington Leisure Centre.

The raffle was due to be drawn live on Facebook last night.

Julie Horton, owner of Broughton Craggs Hotel, said the event had gone “really well.”

The hotel launched a new wedding package on the night, which will offer couples sole use of the hotel and grounds for the weekend.
