ROSE Lewis only learned to swim as an adult but she is making up for lost time.

Last week the 65-year-old from Dearham swam 324 lengths or five miles in the Cockermouth pool to raise money for Water Aid and for her beloved St Mungo's Church in Dearham.

To celebrate her 60th birthday, Rose did 300 lengths of the pool and is delighted that she was able to beat that record.

"I did it. I am well tired and bit achy but I did it, I don't remember feeling like this after the last one but I suppose I am a bit older now," she said after the gruelling swim.

She has raised over £500 from her swim so far.
