A fundraising day for Paralympic hopeful Simon Lawson will be held in Maryport on Sunday.

Organisers say plans for the huge event were now being finalised and it is hoped that Maryport will turn out in force to support him.

Simon is waiting to hear if he has qualified for the Paralympic team to go to Rio.

In the meantime locals have organised the event which will be held in Grasslot Welfare Club from 2pm to 8pm.

Live music will be provided by four local bands Buyers Club, Homegrown, Broken English and Miss D and the Mustangs and Manchester group House of Three Hands, who have headlined at Solfest.

A raffle and auction will also be held.

Tickets are £5 on the door.
