Over 3,000 shoeboxes have been collected from generous West Cumbrians to be sent to needy children.
The gift-filled boxes – as part of Operation Christmas Child – began their journey this week from storage at Myers and Bowman, Distington, to Belarus.
Dot Blaylock, district co-ordinator for Operation Christmas Child West Cumbria, thanked all those who helped to make a difference to "the life of a child they will never meet, but who knows that he or she is not forgotten''.
She said: "We have a wonderful team of volunteers at the warehouse who tirelessly gave their time and effort to check and pack the shoeboxes ready for dispatch.
"As well as army of knitters who supply us with warm hats, scarves and mittens to add to the boxes if needed.''
Dot also praised Stephen Calvin, of Myers and Bowman, Tyson Burridge and Eilbeck's Van Hire for their support.
She also thanked all the schools, churches, WIs, mothers' unions, business, local groups, and drop-off points for their help.
The final shoe box total was 3,035 but it had been "touch and go'' whether the group would reach the 3,000 target.
"Without the co-operation and support of everyone mentioned this appeal would not have achieved such a brilliant outcome,'' Dot added.
