A boxing event to raise money for a charity takes place next week in Maryport.

On Saturday, September 3, two boxers will take part in British Boxing Union Northern Area title defences at the former pop factory on the Glasson Industrial Estate.

Shaun Clark will be defending his light middleweight title and current 11 fights unbeaten, while Wil Compi will be defending his middleweight version of the same belt and he too is going into this fight after a successful string of victories.

The event will also be hosting a heavyweight prizefighter tournament where the winner on the day will walk away with a £500 prize.

The event will consist of a squad of local boxers taking on challengers from in and around the North of England and organisers promise there will be something for everyone, from debuts, rematches, title fights, novice and experienced fights.

The event, which starts at 3pm, has been arranged by Bricktop Promotions.

It will raise cash for Papyrus, a charity dedicated to preventing suicides in young people.

It offers help and advice to youngsters and delivers awareness and prevention training.

Luke Crossman and Zac Davenport will also take part in a fight at the event to raise cash directly for Papyrus.

Tickets are £25 and there are ringside tables and VIP tables also available.
