A Crosby teenager has made history after becoming the first female to win a prestigious award.
Chloe Cartmell, 18, has received the Queen's Badge from the Boys' Brigade.
Chloe, a student at Carlisle College, has become the first female in the company and in Cumbria to land the prize.
The Queen's Badge is the highest award that can be won by an association member.
Staff sergeant Chloe undertook 72 hours of volunteering with the North Lakes Foodbank, demonstrated leadership during company activities, carried out instructing in badge work and passed her driving theory test exam.
Her final training session for the award involved talking about issues in the news for a podcast.
Chloe said: "I know that working towards the Queen’s Award has helped build my confidence and it has been a good way for me to learn to be connected to the local community."
Her award was presented to her at a ceremony in Liverpool by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside Dame Lorna Muirhead.
The Boys' Brigade is one of the biggest Christian youth organisations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The organisation also has a Girls' Association.
