The marketing director of a Cockermouth firm is asking people to take pictures with their brew while enjoying the Cumbrian views to raise money for charity.

Samantha Gargett, 40, who works at her parent’s firm Elton Finance, wants to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Samantha, who is married to Richard and has three children, said: "I was stood at the window of my house, drinking my brew and trying to avoid doing housework, when I saw an air ambulance flying past.

"I found it quite ironic the contrast between the beauty of the scenery and the fact that someone was being taken seriously to hospital. That’s when I had this idea."

Samantha said she had set herself a target of £500, but was hoping to raise more.

She is also wanting to raise awareness of the fact that Cumbria is open for business after the floods.

She said: “The firm has been in Cockermouth for about six years and was in Whitehaven before, so we’ve seen how the floods have affected businesses and families in the town.

“We haven’t been affected personally, but Cockermouth is a town full of small family-owned businesses and we saw how our colleagues have been affected.”

The campaign will run until August 31.

People are asked to upload their photos on their own social media sites and websites and tag #mybrewthisview @mybrew thisview as pages have been set up for the campaign on Twitter and Facebook.
