Entries are now open for Hospice at Home West Cumbria's 2017 Colour Run.

Now in its fourth year, the Colour Run will take place on July 2 at Muncaster Castle.

Participants, who can choose between a 5k or 1k course, have powder colour thrown at them while they run, walk or even dance their way to the finishing line.

In 2016, giant inflatables were added to the fun in the final leg of the course as almost 750 people made their way to the finish line.

A charity spokesman said: “The 5k or 1k courses are open to all ages, genders and abilities and encourage people to have fun, get messy and raise money for a great cause.

“Some runners participate as a celebration and capstone of their healthy living accomplishments, others participate for reasons unique to them and some may even be joining us for the fourth year running.

“We’ll keep people entertained all day, from the gates opening at 10.30am until it’s time to say goodbye at 5pm.

“You’ll receive a white T-shirt and colourful glasses when you check in, and on completion a Colour Run medal for taking part.”

People who sign up before March 31 will receive an early bird discount.

The charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is organising a variety of events to mark the milestone.

The charity must raise over £1 million each year. Only a quarter of its income comes from the NHS.

Tickets for the Colour Run are available from www.hospiceathomewestcumbria.org.uk or by calling Hospice at Home West Cumbria on 01900 873173.
