KESWICK is gearing up for its annual Victorian Fayre next weekend.

The event, on Sunday, December 6, will feature morris dancing from the Belfagan dance group, school choirs, the Keswick School Jazz Band, performances from a ukulele band, Cockermouth Mechanics brass band and the Committed2Rock choir.

Most performances will take place on the main stage in Market Square, but some will happen elsewhere around the town centre.

Keswick Street Theatre will stage three performances of a special Christmas play at noon and 1pm in Museum Square, and at 2.30pm in the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery.

Around 30 charities and local not-for profit organisations will be selling a range of goods and running competitions to raise funds. Christmas crafts, gifts, local produce, fashion accessories, with hot and cold food and drinks will all be on sale.

The Victorian Fayre will officially be opened by Copeland MP Jamie Reed at 11.15am.

Victorian costume for visitors is optional, but encouraged.

Father Christmas will make a visit with a reindeer at around noon and will stay in the Market Square until 3.30pm.

There will be a church service at St John’s Church at 6pm.
