Keswick Tourism Association manager Linda Furniss will leave her role next week, having experienced the best of times and the worst of times there.

She has witnessed the town hit by floods three times.

But she has also seen it develop as a major tourist destination and turn itself into a festival town.

She has played a key role in helping it to grow and create a reputation as one of the county’s key places to visit.

Now, after 15 years living in Keswick and 13 involved in the town's tourism she's returning to Yorkshire.

She said: "It has been mostly amazing.

"I have been through three floods – in 2009, 2012 and last year, each time, the town has bounced back and hopefully the Keswick Tourism Association has been a big support to members.

"I really do believe we are now a festival town and one that appeals to all sorts of people, not just those interested in the outdoors.

"For a small town, we really do punch above our weight.

"It is quite hard to move, but it is the right thing to do and I will definitely come back."

Linda leaves her post next Wednesday and Vanessa Metcalfe will take over as manager.

She currently works with KTA and is also a member of the Keswick Theatre Club and Keswick Street Theatre.
