A Workington student missed out on glory at Miss Manchester 2016 but says she enjoyed every minute of it.

Lucy Teasdale, 18, of Stainburn Road, was one of the 31 finalists who took part in the annual beauty pageant.

Lucy is currently in her first year at Manchester Metropolitan University and is doing a filmmaking degree.

Out of the 31 finalists a winner and two runners-up are crowned, but Lucy missed out on the top three.

Lucy is a former pupil at Dean Primary School, St Joseph's School in Workington and Lakes College at Lillyhall.

She said: "I didn't win, but I had an amazing experience.

"I did something that was out of my comfort zone and I'm pleased that I've managed to do that.

"All the girls were lovely and I would do it again. I haven't got any regrets."

The teenager entered the competition online and qualified for the final through a text message vote.

This was the first beauty pageant she had entered.

Miss Manchester 2016 took place at Manchester's Palace Hotel last Friday.

Lucy took part in the little black dress, sportswear and eveningwear rounds.

She also raised £600 through a raffle with the proceeds going to Cash For Kids and Beauty with a Purpose which are two charities that are supported by the pageant.
