A Seaton schoolgirl will raise money for charity by having more than 30 centimetres of her hair cut off.
Lyra Wilson, nine, a pupil at St Mary's Primary School in Salterbeck is raising cash for the Little Princess Trust.
The charity provides wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
She decided to support the charity after being inspired by fellow pupil Lauren Scott who also had her hair cut in aid of the Little Princess Trust.
Lyra will also donate her hair to the charity and it will be used to make wigs.
Mum Emma Pattinson, 35, said: "She wanted to have a haircut so I said to her if she wanted to get it done she should raise money too.
"She was quite impressed with Lauren and says that the money goes to a good cause. I'm proud of her."
Lyra's hair will be cut at Topkutz in Seaton at 9.30am on Saturday.
Sponsor forms are available from St Mary's Primary School.
