Workington MP Sue Hayman has thrown her support behind a new scheme designed to help vulnerable customers.

United Utilities has launched its new Priority Services initiative to help people who are having problems paying bills, have mental health problems, have been affected by a life event or have physical disabilities.

The firm offers tailored payment plans, braille or audio bills, a nominee scheme where an account can be managed on someone’s behalf, translation services and additional support for vulnerable customers.

Mrs Hayman said: “I am very pleased to support this new initiative by United Utilities to help my constituents who may be struggling to pay their water bills.”
