A group of pupils raised £400 for charity after holding an Alice In Wonderland-themed tea party.

The friends from Cockermouth School organised the event, at Brigham Memorial Hall, on Saturday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

They wore their own handmade costumes to mark the 150th anniversary of the book.

The pupils chose the charity after their friend had a brain tumour removed.

Aneela Scott, organiser, said: "It went really well. It was a good turnout and the room and table looked amazing and the kids were in character too.

"It was not just a tea party, it was two hours of entertainment and they did us proud."

Pupils involved were Karina Scott, Mabel and Connie Symonds, Emma Foy, Beth Austin, Heather Palmer, Jack Parker-Weir, Jasmine Bragg, Poppy Gannon, Polly Bragg and Alexander Hatch.
