Fundraising will begin this week for Maryport's carnival.
The event will be held at the Butcher's Arms on Crosby Street on Friday.
It will include live entertainment from popular local band Broken English. There will also be raffles and various other fundraising activities throughout the evening.
Spokesman Gary Hampson said the carnival committee was keen to hold an event similar to last year but they had to have the money to do it.
"We need people to get behind us to save the carnival from sure extinction," he said.
A group, set up by town councillors Lee Williamson and Thomas Todd, held a family gala to replace the carnival.
