Ewanrigg is becoming one of the happiest places in Maryport - and there is a film to prove it.

In fact the film, made by 14-year-old Molly Robinson has been shortlisted for a national Big Local film award.

She, with members of the Ewanrigg Local Trust and Ewanrigg and Netherton Tenants' and Residents' Association, will travel to Birmingham for the awards ceremony and film festival on July 1.

It is Mollie's second film as she previously created one to support the town's Save Our Beds campaign.

Her latest effort shows the different activities held in the Ewanrigg community centre, from bingo to exercise classes, computer lessons, dance classes, lunches, job club, Brownies and more.

The groups' volunteers were involved in making the film and local trust chairman Sharon Barnes said everyone had learned something along the way.

Five ENTRA members will travel to Birmingham. They will also be involved in a film-making workshop.

The event is run by Big Local, which oversees organisations that administer lottery funding pots given to communities like Ewanrigg.

Sharon said the film had been made possible by the estate's community spirit.

The same community spirit was evident on Saturday when more than 150 people turned up for an afternoon tea and entertainment to mark the national Get Together in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.
