Three members of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team have notched up a total of 115 years' service between them.

A surprise party was laid on for the trio who were each presented with a certificate.

Steve Brailey, a local government officer with Allerdale council, lives in Cockermouth and has been in the team for 25 years.

Steve Jones, a clinical director for specialist dental services at Cumbria Partnership NHS, lives in Great Clifton and has been in the team for 40 years.

Retired John Bulman, of Cockermouth, has notched up 50 years.

Team chairman Martin Pickavance said: "We are very fortunate as a team to have people actively involved with such a depth of valuable experience.

"The commitment and dedication that these individuals continue to show is unrelenting.

"It’s not just about being willing to drop everything in order to attend callouts 356 days year - 24 hours a day, or the hours spent training and studying new techniques.

"These guys have always gone above and beyond, working to developing new equipment and techniques, helping to train other team members and ensuring that Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team is able to continue to provide the highest quality rescue service possible."
