A Workington teenager has graduated as a warfare specialist with the Royal Navy.

James Kenyon, 17, a former pupil at St Joseph’s School, joined the navy in February and has just completed training at HMS Collingwood in Hampshire.

As a warfare specialist on board a ship, James will be part of a team detecting threats, identifying targets and making tactical decisions. He said he was looking forward to joining his first ship.

James follows in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, who was a submariner in World War Two.
