A new residents' action group is due to be launched in Moorclose on Monday.

The initiative is led by housing association Your Derwent & Solway.

It will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm at Moorclose Community Centre.

Lisa Clark, community support officer, said: "We're quite optimistic that people will come to the first meeting. We've done a public consultation to see what people's perception of Moorclose is, in terms of anti-social behaviour, problems with teenagers hanging around or vandalism and also more personal questions such as access to health services and employment data.

"At the meeting we'll be looking at the results and make recommendation."

She said Moorclose residents were dissatisfied with the provision of play areas and open spaces.

She added: "We'd like to create smaller working groups and see what the issues are and try to address them.

"Everyone is welcome at the meeting, children, teenagers, families and older people.

"Because the meeting takes place at night, we'll refund the bus or taxi fares if people don't have their own transport because we don't want it to be a barrier.

"The meetings will be held regularly, but we'll let the residents themselves decide how frequently they want to meet. The first one on Monday is also for residents in Moss Bay, but then we're likely to split the two groups."
