Joe Benson at the World's Biggest Liar competition at the Santon Bridge Inn
A Maryport man has been named the world's third biggest liar.
Joe Benson, 63, of Senhouse Street, baffled the audience at the annual World's Biggest Liar contest at the Santon Bridge Inn by telling them about building Hadrian’s Wall as an apprentice and downing a Nazi submarine with skimming stones in a thick West Cumbrian dialect.
The winner was Mike Naylor, of Keekle, near Whitehaven and third was Keith Porter, of Silverdale.
