A Keswick photographer received nine honourable mentions and a second place prize at this year's International Photography Awards.

Tim Fisher, 52, of Manor Park, took seven of his entries in the Lake District National Park and two at Appleby Horse Fayre.

He put forward entries for the portrait, culture, traditions and cultures, social cause, night photography, seasons, wildlife and sports categories.

Tim's Family of Man photo also came second place in the awards' summer competition category.

He said: "The Lake District National Park is a remarkable place, the physical geography and the people, its history both in its impact on people and the way people respond and interact with the park fascinates me.

"As with anything you feel you might be good at, be it fell running, mountain biking, swimming, the 800m, tiddlywinks, photography, you only truly know how good you are if you compete, and the bigger, the most prestigious, the more international that competition, the better."

Earlier this year his image Knitting and Nattering, which showed women from Keswick enjoying a tea and coffee morning, was chosen as one of 100 pictures from 4,000 for the Portrait of Britain exhibition.
