The new Mayor of Workington will be elected at a public ceremony in the Carnegie Theatre on Friday, May 26 at 7pm.
The ceremony is expected to last around 45 minutes and will be followed by a reception, with a buffet, where residents can meet the new mayor and deputy mayor, as well as other council members.
The council elects a mayor, who also chairs the council, each municipal year.
The mayor chairs council meetings and represents the town at civic functions and other events, accompanied by a consort.
The deputy mayor stands in for the mayor when required.
