People in Workington will get the chance to quiz the Environment Agency next week in the wake of Decembers floods.

Allerdale councillor Konrad Hansen has called a public meeting after residents of Hall Park View, within his ward, had their homes flooded during Storm Desmond.

Anyone with an interest in seeing improved flood defences in the town is invited to the meeting, which takes place on Wednesday at 6pm at the Bridge Centre, Central Square.

The meeting will be attended by Workington MP Sue Hayman, a representative of the Environment Agency and some ward councillors.

Coun Hansen said: "It isn't just going to be a forum for people to have a gripe and share anecdotal stories about how they have been affected.

"The real push is to have a plan and some answers about how we can solve the flooding issue."

There will also be a chance for flood victims to get information and advice about their situations.

People in the Hall Park area of Workington, Barepot and Camerton were among those across the area affected by December's flooding.

Workington Flood Action Group has since been reformed to help address flood risk issues for the future.

Flood victims from Flimby have been invited to join the group.
