Fund-raisers and shop volunteers from Silloth RNLI took a trip out to sea on Workington's all-weather lifeboat for their annual social event.

Silloth lifeboat operations manager Eddie Studholme organised the event, which was also attended by High Sheriff of Cumbria Sam Rayner and Barbara Forrester, a senior judge from Carlisle Crown Court.

Silloth lifeboat met the group at sea for a demonstration of the capabilities of both lifeboats.

Mr Rayner presented the lifeboat station with an award in recognition of its service to the community.

He said: "It was a great honour and pleasure to meet you all and find out so much about the operational and fundraising activities of the Silloth lifeboat station.

"I felt privileged to meet you all and see the dedication you all give to your roles and then to have had what became a full hands on experience was a joy."
