Seaton Rainbows will be throwing a party to celebrate the group's 30th anniversary.

A bouncy castle, hot dogs, Disney characters and activities for children and adults will all be part of the mix at the party to celebrate 30 years of Rainbows on Sunday.

When the group's leaders got together to organise the party, they decided to take the opportunity to re-unite with former members.

Vicky Smart, unit leader said: "It's wonderful that some former Rainbows, now aged 14 and 15, have joined the organising committee and are working hard to make the day a special event."

And Linzi Kilgour, assistant unit leader, added: "Being a former Seaton Rainbow, I think it's very important that we mark this event in the village."

The event, which will take place on St Paul's Church hall and grounds and at the village green, is free to attend and the group wants the community to join in the celebrations.

Seaton Scout Group will be erecting a marquee and will be selling hot dogs on the day.

Special guests will be Mickey and Minnie and Reptile Encounters with Eric, the 12-foot albino python.

Food and refreshments will also be available.

The event, which will be opened by Workington MP Sue Hayman at 1:30pm and will run until 5pm, has been funded by Seaton Parish Council, St Paul’s Church and Solway Division Girlguiding.

The committe, which is also hoping to attract new volunteers, said: "Rainbows are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK and are aged between five and seven.

"Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We give girls a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and communities.

"We build girls' confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them a chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good."

Melissa Bathgate, assistant unit leader, added: "Being a unit leader has supported my application for University, Camp America and now my career. I thoroughly recommend volunteering with Girlguiding."
