Families from across West Cumbria will be able to learn more about how to manage people with autism at an event in Maryport.

Children’s charity Owl Blue has organised the seminar on Monday, September 12 at the Wave Centre on Irish Street.

The seminar is the third that the organisation has held this year and will focus on anxiety, stress, sensory issues and behavioural problems.

The guest speaker is autism expert Geoff Evans, of West Yorkshire.

Stuart McDougall, who runs Owl Blue, said: “We’re extremely pleased to get Geoff as he’s one of the most sought-after speakers in the country.

“There’s nothing like this in the area and people have been going to Manchester and Newcastle which is why we wanted to do something here. The main aim is to educate families.

“Autism is getting more recognised and there are more children being diagnosed with it.

“A lot of people don’t understand it and we’re trying to educate as many people as possible.”

The seminar will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £10.
