A popular Maryport entertainer will be singing in memory of a town man next month.

Stephen Bailey, 54, of Netherton, will be running a fancy dress karaoke session at the town's Co-op between 11am and 2pm on Saturday August 8 to raise money for Allerdale COSC and Maryport Community Hospital.

The event is in memory of Phillip Nixon, who died earlier this month aged 46.

Mr Nixon, who was born deaf, worked at the Co-op and was a member of Allerdale COSC.

The Co-op has already raised over £400 for the hospital and COSC and will continue to collect until after the karaoke.
