A Workington man hopes a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist will help him smash his £3,000 fund-raising target at a fund-raiser on Saturday.

John Hastings, 42, of Mossbay Road, will hold a fund-raiser at the town's The Harbour Side bar on Saturday, November 7, in memory of his uncle Tony, who died of cancer in April.

Billed as 'Super Saturday', the event will raise money for Cancer Research UK.

John set himself a target of £3,000 to be raised for Cancer Research UK after by the end of the year and has so far raised £1,743.

Britain's Got Talent 2015 semi-finalist Emma Jones and West Cumbrian singer Andrew Burns will entertain the crowd, while there will also be karaoke, stand-up bingo and a raffle.

John said: "The event will take place two days before what would have been his 58th birthday.

"I still miss him badly, as do the rest of my family and his many friends."

"I am so grateful to Harbour Side owners Paul Rosewarne and Ajay Patel for their magnificent support.

"I simply cannot thank them enough and I know it will be another tremendous night but most of all, I know that Tony will be looking down with pride."

Tickets are £5. Call 01900 62186.
