That’s Entertainment is more than just a show. It is a description of what is happening at a West Cumbrian theatre next Friday.

Children from the Spotlight, the youth wing of Maryport Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are putting on the show at the Theatre Royal on Washington Street.

They are presenting a delightful evening of songs from the musicals – everything from Phantom of the Opera way back to Annie Get Your Gun with many in between,

The show has been put together by Spotlight leaders Rebecca Wood, Leah Goodger and Maureen Slack with Alex Clarke as musical director.

It is a light-hearted production which will have the audience singing along – but MAODS chairman Nick Hayton said it is fortunate that the society has been able to stage it.

“We are desperately in need for more members. We have lost quite a few people for various reasons. We would really like to hear from anyone willing to help with the youth wing or with the seniors. Anyone who has any knowledge of choreography, stagecraft of any kind or any theatre work would be more than welcome.”
