Workington am dram star Tony McGee picked up an award on Sunday.

Tony, of Workington Amateur Operatic Society, was named best male lead in a musical at the Noda North West Awards, run by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.

The award recognised his portrayal of Che Guevara in Evita.

It was Tony's second Noda award.

He has been nominated six times in total.

The society's Sophie Mills missed out on an award after being nominated for best female youth performance in an adult musical for her performance as Peron's mistress in the same show, while the society missed out on the best music award for the production.

Junior members Rebecca Milligan and Connor McClenan were pipped to the post in the association's youth awards after being nominated for their performances in Grease.

Workington and District Amateur Musical Society members Kim Fisher and Eric Finlay also missed out in the adult categories.
