An historic West Cumbrian church is celebrating life through wood this weekend.
St Cuthbert's Church in Plumbland, near Aspatria, has replaced its annual annual flower festival with an exhibition called The Tree of Life, which will use wood and greenery to tell Bible stories, proverbs and stories.
In a real celebration the exhibition, which opens today, will be delayed by an hour because of a wedding taking place in the church.at noon on Friday. (June 30).
Plumbland school has joined the exhibition with its trees of faith, hope and charity.
Other exhibits include a remembrance tree, the Easter story, and a monkey puzzle tree.
That and a Christmas tree tableau, complete with an unseasonal Santa Claus will especially delight any children visiting the exhibition.
Spokeswoman Hylarie Sharpe said it was decided to do something a little different this year to raise funds for the church.
"I think people will like what we have done."
The exhibition will run from 1pm to 5pm on Fruday and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
