Running record-breaker Gary McKee has completed his last Cumbrian run and is now just two marathons away from finishing his epic challenge.

Marathon marvel McKee is taking on 100 marathons in 100 days to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and ran his last 26 mile in Cleator Moor this morning.

The father-of-three, who smashed his £50,000 fundraising target yesterday, is now gearing up for two runs in London.

He plans to run in Hyde Park tomorrow before the London Marathon on Sunday.

He said: "It has become part of the every day now but it is nice to get it finished.

"The support has been fantastic from the start, it shows what it means to people and this is closure for them as well."

Runners and cyclists turned up at his house to offer their support along the route, as they have for the duration of his charity challenge.

Last Sunday, over 100 supporters joined Mr McKee on his daily run.

Yesterday, scores of well-wishers visited Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Masonic Centre to pass on final messages of encouragement.

Long-time friend Elwyn Evans, who has been photographing Gary along the way, organised the send-off.

Gary's wife Sue said: "It's been absolutely unreal, there has been loads of new people coming to see us.

"I've never stopped baking, and Elwyn's wife has been bringing food too. On Sunday, when there was over 100 people it was amazing, we ran out of green Macmillan T-shirts."
