A ceremony has taken place to honour the work of a life-saving boat crew.

Workington Town Council presented the town’s RNLI unit with a £2,000 donation to support its work.

And, in a show of appreciation for the support, Workington RNLI coxswain John Stobbart and station chairman Bob McLaughlin took crew members along to present the mayor of Workington Joan Wright and mayoress Denise Roper, with a framed photograph of outgoing vessel the Sir John Fisher and new Shannon-class boat the Dorothy May White.

The work of the crew – and the support the team receive from their families as they remain on-alert to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week – was acknowledged during the presentation at Workington town hall.
