Fame will be the name of the game for a group of Workington youngsters this autumn when the town's amateur musical society takes to the stage with its latest junior show.

Wadams Next Generation will perform Fame The Musical, set in a performing arts school, at the Carnegie Theatre from September 9 to September 12.

Elizabeth Corless, 15, plays fame-obsessed Carmen Diaz, while shy actress Serena Katz is played by Abbie Johnsen, 18.

Josh Pattison, 14, plays Spanish acting student and comic of the play Joe Vegas, while Katie Weir, 17, is dyslexic hip hip dancer Tyrone Jackson.

Jody Rafferty, 14, plays ballet dancer Iris Kelly, while Sarah Deans, 15, is dancer and singer Mabel Washington.

Classical musician turned rock star Schlomo Metzenbaum is played by Matthew Johnston, 13.

His band's drummer, rock chick and tomboy Lambchops is played by Hannah McLean, 15, and Charlotte Bedford, 15, plays fellow band Goody.

Serious classical actor Nick Piazza is played by Matthew Goodill, 17.

The junior cast are joined by four adult society members who take on the roles of teachers in the show.

Kim Fisher plays Miss Sherman, Victoria Sharples is Miss Bell, Jack Pike is Mr Myers and Daniel O'Hagan plays 

Mr Sheinkopf.

The cast will be supported by dancers Georgia Hunter, 16, Hope Teasedale, 16, Sophie Little, 15,

Laura Curran, 13, Ellie Peel, 12, and Jessica Teasedale, 12, and chorus members Skye Keeler, 13,

Sophia Bedford, 13, Felicity Mccready, 11, Leanna Thompson, 14, Beth Johnsen, 14, Ella Pattinson, 14.

The show will be directed by Daniel MacCreedy and choreographed by Aimee Rance and Adam MacCreedy.

Musical director is Mark Hazzard, stage manager is Oliver Jenkinson and wardrobe supervisor is Jackie Fisher.

The production is supported by Next Generation committee members Helen Corless, Shirley McLean, Jack Pike, Abbie Johnsen and Katie Weir.
