Two men from different window companies will have to box clever when they come face-to-face in a charity boxing match.

Paul Tomlinson, 45, of Allonby, director at Everlast UVPC and Richard Hocking, sales director at Cumbria Superglaze, will fight each other in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance.

The contest will take place at Stanwix Park, Silloth tomorrow.

The idea for the fight goes back two years, when customers telephoning Richard ended up getting through to Paul instead due to a BT fault.

Paul told Richard about the problem which was later resolved.

The duo joked that they should have a boxing match afterwards and have finally decided to do battle this year.

Richard, 49, of Whitecroft, Maryport, said: "We've got a friendly rivalry. I've known him seven or eight years on and off and although we're rivals we're friends.

"It's not a set-up for charity, we're going to go for it properly in this boxing match.

"We're going to be friends afterwards, but we're going to go for it on the day.

"There's going to be a rematch whatever the outcome."

The friends have been training three times a week with help from boxing coach Adrian Kirkbride.

Paul said: "We're always having a bit of banter so we said 'let's get in the boxing ring for charity'."
